Referring a patient to Mr Vinall

Refer a patient. We'll take it from there. Chris works closely with dentists and other clinicians across Leicester and the surrounding area and aims to make specialist referral as easy as possible for you and your patient.

What Chris sees

Chris accepts private referrals for the full range of adult Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and most often for:

  • Complex dental extractions and impacted wisdom teeth, including teeth close to the inferior alveolar nerve and extractions in medically complex patients
  • Oral soft-tissue lesions for diagnosis and biopsy
  • Facial skin lesions for excision
  • Benign head and neck lumps, including salivary gland disease
  • Facial pain, TMJ disorders, bruxism and myofascial pain
  • Jaw cysts and benign jaw pathology
  • Orthognathic consultation and opinion (surgery via the NHS)

His private practice is currently for adults. Referrals for patients under 18 should be directed to his NHS practice at University Hospitals of Leicester for the time being.

How to refer

Send a referral letter by email to Carolyn Frost at carolyn.frost1@outlook.com (for Nuffield, Kuldip Gill at kuldip.gill2@nuffieldhealth.com), or use the form on this page. Please include the patient's contact details, a summary of the problem, relevant medical history and medication, and any radiographs or scan reports. OPG and CBCT images can be attached or sent on request.

If the patient has private medical insurance they will usually need your referral letter to obtain pre-authorisation, so a copy to the patient is helpful. Urgent referrals, for example a suspected malignancy, should be made by telephone and will be seen within days; if the patient is not able to be seen privately quickly enough, Chris will advise on the fastest NHS route.

  • Your patient is normally offered an appointment within a week.
  • A clinical letter is with you within 5 working days of the consultation.
  • A simple one‑page referral form, and secure submission.
  • A direct number if you would like to discuss a case before referring.

Need to discuss a patient?

Sometimes you don't need a referral form. You need five minutes with another clinician. If you are unsure whether a patient needs to be seen, or would like Chris's view before referring, call Carolyn Frost on 07305 131531 and ask for the referrer line; she will arrange a call back from Chris.

Correspondence

You will receive a letter after the initial consultation, after any procedure and at discharge.
